As an affiliate nonprofit of the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara (HACSB), 2nd Story Associates brings together a nexus of community partners to create affordable housing opportunities that serve as a platform for lasting change and with strong partnerships and a collaborative focus, we are making an impact in the community.
Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara
In 2022, employees of the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara (HACSB) donated $5,234.00 to support 2nd Story Associates’ efforts to respond to critical community needs. The generosity and commitment of HACSB employees helps to sustain our important work in the community and we are grateful for all of their support.
Food Bank of Santa Barbara County Healthy Food Pantry
In partnership with the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, the Housing Authority continued providing food as a vital resource through the mobile food pantry, which is open community wide. A total of 42,255 pounds of food was distributed. On average, 145 households were served every month and an average of about 230 individuals. This need continues and our efforts to assist the community will continue.
Women’s Fund of Santa Barbara
2nd Story Associates were the recipients of a $50,000 grant from the Women’s Fund of Santa Barbara to provide furnishing for the new residents of Vera Cruz Village. This grant from the Women’s Fund allowed 2nd Story Associates to fully furnish all 28 apartments with furniture and basic necessities, including beds, dressers, small dining tables/chairs and other assorted household items. Many of the new residents had few possessions, but upon moving-in were provided personal items. Addressing each resident’s basic needs allows supportive service providers to attend to high level needs, which improves the health of residents and increases housing stability.
